02 Humanization of School Education Methods

Kindergarten stage

Kindergartens in Spain are divided into two stages: 0-3 years old and 3-6 years old. Unlike in China, the second stage is free in Spain.

The purpose of education during this period is to help children understand their bodies, learn to interact with others, express themselves in different ways, and understand and observe their surroundings. In kindergarten, children start learning to read and write, but they are not required to have fluent reading ability, they only need to learn the alphabet.

Primary school stage

Primary school is the beginning of compulsory education in Spain, from the age of 6 to 12. Unlike learning in China, Chinese and mathematics are not the most important for Spanish children, but rather society, nature, and sports. They believe that for children aged six or seven, learning to know themselves, understand themselves, and know how to protect themselves is far more important than mastering textbook knowledge.

Junior high school stage

Middle school education, starting from around the age of 12, is still a compulsory education stage, mainly aimed at cultivating students' independent and autonomous cognitive abilities, enabling them to learn basic cultural knowledge, and letting them know their rights and obligations. At the same time, junior high school education also develops students' ability to analyze the modern world, improves their proficiency in their mother tongue and foreign languages, physical fitness, and the ability to appreciate music and art.

High school stage

Spanish high schools only have two years, preparing students for higher education, higher vocational education, or employment. During this period, education mainly aimed to cultivate students' research abilities. Upon graduating from high school, students were required to write a thesis and participate in the thesis defense.
